Overview

Naneghat Monsoon Trek from Pune

Overview

  • Naneghat Trek from Pune is a one-day monsoon trip to the historic Naneghat mountain pass near Junnar in Pune district, Maharashtra.
  • Naneghat once formed part of an important trade route connecting the Konkan coast with the Deccan plateau. The site is known for its rock-cut caves, Brahmi-script inscriptions, Sahyadri views and seasonal reverse-waterfall effect.
  • During suitable monsoon conditions, strong winds push falling water and spray back towards the cliff. This creates the appearance of water flowing upward. The effect depends on rainfall and wind and cannot be guaranteed.
  • The current Pune itinerary provides a shorter scheduled walking and sightseeing experience around the Naneghat top, caves and reverse-waterfall area.
  • This Pune product should not be described as the full Vaishakhare-side ascent unless the itinerary and timings are changed accordingly.
  • The Pune package includes private bus transportation, breakfast with tea, unlimited vegetarian lunch, trek-leader support, permit and forest-entry charges, trek expertise and basic first-aid assistance.

What makes Naneghat Trek special?

  1. Naneghat combines natural beauty with one of Maharashtra’s most important ancient trade routes.
  2. The Pune itinerary allows participants to experience the caves, monsoon mist, reverse-waterfall area and surrounding plateau without completing the longer Vaishakhare ascent.
  3. Highlights include:
  • Ancient mountain-pass heritage
  • Rock-cut caves
  • Brahmi-script inscriptions
  • Seasonal reverse-waterfall effect
  • Views towards Jivdhan Fort
  • Mist-covered Sahyadri surroundings
