Overview

Naneghat Monsoon Trek from Mumbai

  • Naneghat Trek from Mumbai is a 1-night, 1-day monsoon trek along one of Maharashtra’s most historically important mountain passes.
  • Located near Junnar in Pune district, Naneghat once connected the Konkan coast with the Deccan plateau. Traders used this ancient pass to transport goods between the coastal region and inland settlements.
  • The trek is known for its rock-cut caves, Brahmi-script inscriptions, old stone trail, Sahyadri valley views and seasonal reverse-waterfall effect.
  • During suitable monsoon conditions, strong winds blow falling water and spray back towards the cliff, making the waterfall appear to flow upward. This effect depends on rainfall and wind and cannot be guaranteed on every batch.
  • The Mumbai itinerary follows the longer Vaishakhare-side route. Participants climb the ancient trade trail to the Naneghat caves and return by the same route.
  • The trek is non-technical but requires medium endurance because it involves a continuous ascent, rocky sections, slippery stone paths and approximately six to seven hours of trekking.
  • The Mumbai package includes private AC bus transportation, breakfast with tea, vegetarian lunch, trek-leader support, entry charges, trek expertise and basic first-aid assistance.

What makes Naneghat Trek special?
